Privacy Policy
Last updated September 6, 2026. City Renter collects information you provide when you create an account, complete a renter profile, post a rental, save a listing, send an inquiry, submit a report or contact support. This may include your name, email address, rental preferences, income range or amount, approximate credit information, guarantor availability, listing details and messages.
We use this information to operate City Renter, personalize rental matching, protect the platform, communicate with users, process listing purchases when payments are enabled, and improve the service. We may use service providers such as Supabase, Vercel, Resend and Stripe to provide hosting, authentication, email and payment services.
City Renter does not ask renters to provide protected-class characteristics for Match Score calculations. Do not place highly sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, bank credentials, government ID numbers or full credit reports into listing descriptions, inquiry messages or support forms.
Instant messages do not automatically reveal your account email, full name or renter profile to the other participant. Email inquiries share your account name, email and inquiry with the landlord after you choose email contact. Message access is restricted to participants in the app; authorized technical operators and service providers may access stored data. Messaging is not end-to-end encrypted. Emails about messages link back to your inbox without copying the conversation text. Rental-match emails are opt-in and can be disabled in Account or through their unsubscribe link.
You may contact City Renter through the Support page about access, correction or deletion requests. Some information may need to be retained for security, fraud prevention, transaction records or legal obligations.
Terms of Use
City Renter is a rental discovery and communication platform. We are not a landlord, real-estate broker, property manager, guarantor, credit bureau or housing approval service unless expressly stated otherwise for a specific service.
Users must provide accurate information, use the platform lawfully, respect other users, and may not post fraudulent, misleading, discriminatory or unavailable rentals. Landlords are responsible for the legality and accuracy of their listings and screening requirements. By publishing or updating a listing, a landlord confirms that they own or are authorized to advertise the property and grants City Renter a non-exclusive license to display the submitted listing content while the listing or account remains active. Landlords must own or have permission to use every photograph and description they submit. Renters are responsible for verifying a property, landlord or agent before sending money or signing an agreement.
City Renter may remove, pause or review accounts and listings that appear fraudulent, unsafe, unlawful, misleading or inconsistent with these terms. Listing fees, once enabled, purchase publication access and do not guarantee views, inquiries, applicants or a completed lease.
Fair Housing
City Renter supports equal housing opportunity. Listings, screening criteria and user communications must comply with applicable federal, New York, New Jersey and local fair-housing laws. Users may not discriminate based on legally protected characteristics.
City Renter's matching tools are designed around rental-related factors such as budget, stated income requirements, approximate credit requirements, guarantor acceptance and rental preferences. Protected-class characteristics are not used to calculate Match Scores.
If you see a listing or communication that appears discriminatory, use Report listing on the rental or Report in your message conversation so it can be reviewed.
Match Score disclaimer
Match Score is an informational comparison tool only. It is not an approval decision, credit decision, tenant-screening report, legal determination or guarantee that a landlord will accept an application. Landlords may consider lawful criteria not represented in City Renter's Match Score.
Verification
A landlord, property manager or listing should be treated as unverified unless City Renter explicitly displays a verification badge or status. Verification, when shown, indicates that City Renter completed the review described for that badge at that time; it is not a guarantee against fraud or future misconduct.
Never send money solely because a listing appears on City Renter. Confirm the property, lease terms and identity or authority of the person requesting payment.
These are operational launch terms for City Renter and should be reviewed by qualified New York/New Jersey counsel before a broad public launch.
